Visual Thinking exhibition at the Art Pavilion Mile End

Art in the park, the ‘Visual Thinking‘ part 1 took place at the Art Pavilion, Mile End Park, 27th Feb – 9th March 2020.

The preview night, 27th Feb, was a vibrant and busy night showcasing an array of art from young people across the borough of Tower Hamlets in the stunning exhibition space. 13 secondary schools participated in the collaborative showcase.

The Visual Thinking project was generously supported by our partners University of the Arts-Central Saint Martins; ‘A’ Team Arts; Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design; RIBA; Whitechapel Gallery; Royal Drawing School; Bow Arts; Chisenhale Gallery, Auto Italia, Spotlight; and generously funded by THAMES (Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Services)

Art Prizes

Judges Karen Brock MBE, Head of Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES); Andrew Stone, Head of School, Sir John Cass School fo Art, Architecture and Design and Michael Burkitt, Young Artist Programme Manager at The Royal Drawing School awarded four prizes.

Prizes were generously donated by Great Art https://www.greatart.co.uk/

First Prize was awarded to A level Art student Takir Hossain – Stepney Green School.

Second Prize was awarded to A level Art student Maxwell Akinbiyi – Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation of Schools.

There were two prizes for GCSE Art students:

Keefe Chong – Bow School

Guilly Uddin – Swanlea School

Poster prizes

4 poster prize students were awarded art goody bags from UAL – University of the Arts, Central Saint Martins and THAT (winners were selected by Berni Yates – UAL Insights-CSM).

Gold award winner went to Khadija Begum – St Paul’s Way Trust School.

Silver award winner went to Neha Ahmed – St Paul’s Way Trust School.

Bronze award winner went to Takir Hossain – Stepney Green school

Special mention winner went to Aisha Ahmed – Morpeth School
